Background Information Julie began working as a Mental Health Assistant in 1990 at Holland Community Hospital Psychiatric Services with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Grand Valley State University. After completing a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at Western Michigan University, she continued working for Holland Community Hospital Center for Good Health. There she was part of an on-site holistic health benefit program which offered HCH employees access to classes, counseling and information regarding their physical, mental and spiritual well-being. In 2004 Julie became an independent practitioner, developing a practice for individuals and families with an array of struggles and needs. Clinical Focus and Orientation Julie has specific training and education in a variety of areas. Her educational background in counseling psychology is based on a traditional cognitive-behavioral approach which she combines with extensive training in stress-management, and mind-body therapies such as relaxation, biofeedback and hypnosis. Julie specializes in helping people of all ages with chronic pain, grief and loss, relationship issues, and habit disorders (such as disordered eating and smoke cessation). She also provides assessment and treatment with general mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety. Personal Background Julie lives with her family in Holland, Michigan where she is involved with her church and local schools. In her spare time she enjoys cooking and entertaining friends and family. She is a member of Holland Rotary Club, American Psychological Association, Society for Experimental and Clinical Hypnosis, and American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
